Social Work intervention strategies to improve the quality of life of people living with HIV

Abstract
Care for people living with HIV is often limited to the biomedical aspects and omits social, emotional, and structural factors that affect their quality of life. This is due to a lack of systematization and clarity in social intervention strategies, as well as the persistence of stigma and inequalities. The main objective is to analyze the relationship between social work intervention strategies and professionals' perceptions of the quality of life of people living with HIV, identifying the most relevant actions within professional practice. The study seeks to analyze how social work intervention strategies influence professionals' perceptions of the quality of life of people living with HIV. A quantitative method with a descriptive design was used, employing a 12 question closed-ended survey. The sample consisted of 30 social workers from health institutions and HIV-related organizations. Psychosocial support was identified as the most frequent strategy, fundamental for emotional support. The professionals believe that their intervention improves treatment adherence and strengthens support networks, underscoring the importance of social work in comprehensive HIV care.
