Editorial Policies
Open Access Policy
This journal operates under an open access model with no time restrictions, ensuring that all of its content is available free of charge to any user or institution. Users are free to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, and link to the full texts of the articles, as well as use them for any lawful purpose, without needing to request prior authorization from the publisher or the authors.
Digital Preservation Policies
Scientific Journal Science and Method uses OJS (Open Journal Systems) to ensure the digital archiving and preservation of all its content. Each published article is assigned a DOI (Digital Object Identifier) managed by Crossref, ensuring unique and persistent identification and preventing retrieval problems caused by changes to URLs or other factors.
PKP Preservation Network (PN)
The PKP Preservation Network (PKP PN) provides free preservation services to any OJS journal that meets its basic criteria. Accordingly, for digital preservation purposes, articles published in Journal of Economic and Social Science Research are archived through LOCKSS (Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe) and CLOCKSS (Controlled Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe), thereby ensuring the journal’s permanent and secure preservation.
LOCKSS
Open Journal Systems, the platform hosting Scientific Journal Science and Method, supports the LOCKSS (Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe) system, which provides the journal with permanent and secure archiving. LOCKSS is an open-source program developed by the Stanford University Libraries that enables libraries to preserve selected online journals by regularly checking registered journals for newly published content and archiving it.
Each archived copy is continuously validated against copies held by other libraries. Therefore, any damaged or lost content can be restored using those copies or the journal itself. Archived issues can be accessed through the journal’s LOCKSS Publisher Manifest. In this way, articles are progressively archived, ensuring that the stored digital information remains available and usable in the future.
CLOCKSS
Open Journal Systems also supports the CLOCKSS (Controlled Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe) system to ensure permanent and secure archiving for the journal. CLOCKSS is based on the open-source LOCKSS software developed by the Stanford University Libraries. It enables libraries to preserve selected online journals by regularly checking the websites of registered journals for newly published content and archiving it.
Each archived copy is continuously validated against copies stored in other library caches. If content is found to be corrupted or missing, the other caches or the journal itself are used to restore it. CLOCKSS stores and distributes the journal’s content to participating libraries through the CLOCKSS Publisher Manifest.
Scientific Journal Science and Method is also fully available on an open-access basis through various databases, ensuring its identification and preventing retrieval problems caused by URL changes or similar circumstances. Finally, the journal publishes HTML and PDF versions of every article, facilitating their export and ensuring compatibility with formats that currently exist or may be developed in the future.
Plagiarism detection policy:
Scientific Journal Science and Method strongly rejects plagiarism and fraudulent practices. For this reason, all contributions submitted for publication will undergo originality analysis before proceeding with peer review.
If any type of fraud is detected, the manuscript will be withdrawn from the editorial process and the author will be notified of the decision.
When plagiarism, self-plagiarism, or other transgression of the ethical standards of scientific publication is detected, Scientific Journal Science and Method will take the following actions:
- Immediate rejection of the article.
- Communication to the author(s) about the detected infraction (plagiarism, self-plagiarism or situation).
Researchers are urged to properly cite original sources when using their content. To guarantee the quality and originality of the papers, all contributions will be verified using Turnitin software.
In addition, the journal follows the Code of Conduct and Best Practices defined by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), which guarantees respect for ethical principles and the quality of published articles.
Scientific Journal Science and Method reserves the right to use Turnitin software at any stage of the publication process to evaluate submitted and published papers.
