Rizobacterias promotoras del crecimiento como estrategia para mejorar la tolerancia al estrés hídrico en banano (Musa spp.) durante vivero

El cultivo de Musa spp. enfrenta pérdidas crecientes por la irregularidad de las precipitaciones en las zonas productoras tropicales, lo que hace necesario explorar alternativas biológicas que reduzcan la dependencia del riego sin comprometer el desarrollo de las plántulas. Se evaluó el efecto de un consorcio de rizobacterias promotoras del crecimiento vegetal, con capacidad de formar biofilms en la rizosfera, sobre el desarrollo morfofisiológico de plántulas de banano variedad Williams sometidas a tres niveles de disponibilidad hídrica durante la fase de vivero. Se aplicó un diseño completamente al azar con seis tratamientos y tres repeticiones, evaluando altura, diámetro del pseudotallo, número de hojas, contenido relativo de clorofila y peso fresco de raíz. Los tratamientos sin inoculación bacteriana superaron consistentemente a los inoculados en todas las variables con diferencia estadística, alcanzando la mayor expresión bajo el nivel de humedad menos restrictivo. La inoculación no indujo mejoras detectables en ninguna de las variables morfológicas ni fotosintéticas evaluadas. Estos resultados sugieren que, en las condiciones ensayadas, el desarrollo de las plántulas dependió principalmente de mecanismos fisiológicos intrínsecos frente al déficit hídrico y no de la actividad del consorcio bacteriano.
